Case Study: Polymerize goes to Japan

About the Client | Polymerize is a materials informatics company based in Singapore with a presence across the Asia Pacific.

Client Challenge | In 2023, Polymerize was seeking an expansion into Japan to deepen their relationship with the customers in the chemicals industry. As part of this expansion, they participated in the Plastics Japan Osaka, a prestigious trade show for companies in this space in order to create more brand awareness and recruit new customers.

As Japan has a strong, robust, and world-class chemicals industry, there were other materials informatics competitors in the market with a larger local presence and larger clientele. Additionally, decision-making in Japan typically requires alignment with multiple stakeholders across different departments, which means potential customers of Polymerize needed to ensure internal buy-in as well.

Our Approach | Together with the Polymerize team and Hoffman Agency, we crafted a press release announcing their entry in Japan. The release was distributed on PR Times 2 days before the Plastics Japan Osaka trade show, and garnered 24 total publications within a span of 48 hours.

To ensure that the press release included the right messaging, we pulled data from 2 key platforms:

  1. BrandWatch – looking at the top keywords that garnered interest in the chemicals industry around materials informatics
  2. SEMRush – identifying the top organic keywords that lead traffic towards competitor sites

The keywords allowed us to fine-tune the release such that we addressed what potential customers

Impact | Given the timing of the release, the Polymerize team received many inbound inquiries during and after the trade show, and scaled up their customer pipeline by 2x within a month.
